The local stability and the MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) propagation of linear waves in optically thin plasmas are analyzed. From Hurwitz's criteria the critical wave numbers for unstable disturbances are found. For the wave driven case, a dispersion relation for propagation of thermal and magnetosonic waves were obtained. Analytical conditions for amplification and damping are given for several asymptotic cases.
