To characterize the ammonia spectrum between 3100 and 3700 cm-1, we have analyzed experimental line positions and intensities of the nu_ {1}, nu_ {3} and 2nu_ {4} bands of NH3 obtained from 0.011 cm-1 unapodized resolution spectra recorded with the Fourier transform spectrometer at Kitt Peak National Observatory. About 2110 lines with J' up to 10 have been assigned from which 1835 positions are fitted using an effective rotation-inversion Hamiltonian to achieve a rms of 0.085 cm-1. 531 intensity measurements are modelled to 8 terms in the dipole moment expansion to 8.9%. The band strenghts (determined for the first time in the case of the 2nu_ {4} band will be shown. A prediction of the line positions and intensities has been generated for all lines with intensities greater than 0.1 10-6 cm-2 atm-1 at 296 K suitable for planetological purposes. The theoretical model and the set of programs developped for treating the infrared spectra of ammonia will be briefly described. Part of the research described in this paper was carried out by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, under contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
