Beam-foil spectra of Ar ions in the u.v.-visible region were investigated at incident beam energies in the range of 170-340 keV. These studies have resulted in correcting several discrepancies in earlier data on energy levels. Excitation function results are seen to follow the charge state distributions except in a few cases. Lifetimes of several levels have been measured for the first time.
