The lifetimes (T) of H(+) and O(+) ions in the ring current are
calculated, and graphs of T are constructed in the 10-50 keV range for L
= 4-6. It is shown that the values of T that are determined are of the
same order of magnitude as for the charge-transfer mechanism.
