Length fluctuations during the absorption of EAS cores in a calorimeter are calculated by the Monte Carlo method with allowance for charm generation with a high cross section. Data on absorption length fluctuations obtained at the Tien Shan station are not inconsistent with the involvement of hadron charm generation and an increase in mean path length in the case of high-energy absorption.
