The least-squares fit to a straight line when each variable is affected by
all equal and significant errors leads to very simple exact results, of
widespread applicability. In this paper several results are derived and other
results are reviewed, presenting the full set of results and standard errors.
All the results have been cross-checked with extensive Monte Carlo simulations.
