Lead can be an ideal medium for the detection and study of neutrinos. Such a detector may be realized through the use of a lead perchlorate solution as a Cerenkov radiator. The basic physical properties of lead perchlorate solution are given and preparation of the solution for use in a Cerenkov detector is described. Results from investigations of light transmission in lead perchlorate solutions are also presented.
