In the present paper, valuable evidence is reported regarding the frequency dependence of mantle Q, taking into account five observations of earth tides from Lageos tracking, and observations of changes in the length of day at periods ranging from 14 days to 18.6 years. Attention is given to mantle anelasticity, expressions for the zonal response coefficient kappa and the tidal effective potential Love number k2(bar), and measurements of kappa and k2(bar). Resonable models for the frequency dependence of Q in the mantle are considered.
