I will discuss recent laboratory simulations of physical processes within planetary cores. This survey will consider buoyancy-driven models of core convection and mechanically-driven models of core flow and dynamo action. Comparisons will be made between the results of laboratory experiments, numerical dynamo simulations and planetary magnetic field observations.
