High spectral resolution molecular observations, especially with HIFI, have revelead intriguing differences among the line profiles of several shock tracers. I will present recent results from a chemical and shock model coupled with a radiative transfer model that attempt to explain such differences for the case of L1157-B1. This object is the brighest blue-shifted bow-shock associated with the L1157-mm class 0 protostar; its rich chemical and clumpy structure has been intensively studied from the ground as well as with Herschel. The latter has revealed the presence of different but co-existing molecular components at different excitation conditions (Codella et al. 2010, Lefloch et al. 2010). Of particular interest, is the comparison of the NH_3(1_0-0_0) profile with that of the H_2O(101-101) at high velocities. The model is used to investigate the origin of the different molecular profiles and in this presentation I will show how water is a unique tracer of low velocity shocks.
