The articles in this issue address the following topics: physics of stars and interstellar media, extragalactic astronomy, and solar physics. Specific articles describe fundamental characteristics of cool giant stars in the vicinity of the Sun; high-speed photometry of the Wolf-Rayet star HD 191765 (WN6); a catalog of nearby stars' metallicities; the redshift distribution of quasars and initial spectrum of perturbations at small scales; and a kinematic interpretation of faster-than-light quasar components' motion. Additional articles discuss the propagation of transverse magnetogasdynamical shock waves in a non-homogeneous plasma medium; solar oscillator strengths for neutral calcium lines of the singlet system; CCD observations of the Sun's He I 1083 nm, and K Ca II lines; the results of a thorough revision of the observational material of the bright stars program; the chemical evolution of the Large Magellanic Cloud; and the lifetime of aerosol in planetary atmospheres. Other articles report on peculiarities of flickering in the Wolf-Rayet star WR141; and a new ground-based telescope GT-48 at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory and its first scientific results.
