As of 1981 there were practically no observational data concerning K-spectral type close binary stars. The purpose of this dissertation was to accumulate and analyze light curves of five binaries with periods less than 0.3 days, with the intention of providing a better statistical base of data which might shed light on existing theoretical models pertaining to the origin, structure, and evolution of these systems. The five systems observed were CC Com, BIVul, VZ Psc, FS CrA, and FG Sct. The observations were obtained at Kitt Peak National Observatory, Cerro Tololo InterAmerican Observatory, and Flower and Cook Observatory. These data were analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney light curve synthesis code and satisfactory solutions were obtained for four of the binaries. A unique solution was not possible for VZPsc, and this system merits further study because of the peculiarities evident from its light curve, for example, an approximate temperature difference between the two component stars of 1000 K.
