As awareness grows of the hazard posed by Earth-crossing asteroids and comets, researchers have redoubled their efforts to decipher the Tunguska event--the explosive firebalt that leveled more than 2000 square kilometers of Siberian forest in 1908. The topics discussed include the following: the aftermath, the 1992 International Tunguska expedition, early investigations, and what has been learned.
