Jarosite occurs in zeolite-dominated altered tephra from a pleistocene
saline-alkaline lake deposit at Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania. This suggests
that the presence of jarosite alone is insufficient evidence to
demonstrate dominantly acidic conditions.
