With nonrelativistic QCD factorization, we present a full next-to-leading order computation of the polarization observable for $\jpsi$ production at hadron colliders including all important Fock states, i.e. $\sso,\sps$, and $\pj$. While results for S-wave channels agree with previous works, we find the $\pj$ channel contributes a positive longitudinal component and a negative transverse component. Therefore, the $\jpsi$ polarization puzzle may be understood as the transverse components cancel between $\sb$ and $\pj$ channels, which results in mainly unpolarized (even slightly longitudinally polarized) $\jpsi$. Our work may give a possible solution to the long-standing $\jpsi$ polarization puzzle. We also present predictions for the $\jpsi$ polarization at the LHC.
