Observations made from Concorde 001 at wavelengths near 1.27 and 1.58 microns suggest the existence of a continuum background dayglow emission extending from near 1.2 microns to longer wavelengths, with a total radiance of 100 MR or more, depending on the spectrum assumed. The possibility that the recombination reaction between atomic oxygen and molecular oxygen may be chemiluminescent is considered.
