Recent medium dispersion spectra of the central regions of NGC 1023 and NGC 1023A analyzed to determine the source of the nearby neutral hydrogen cloud. A radial velocity in the range of 712-772 km/sec is derived, which coincides with the H I condensation extending from NGC 1023 to NGC 1023A. The possibility of a tidal interaction between the two galaxies is discussed. The interaction would account for the observed lack of structures and star formation regions in NGC 1023A. Persisting problems with the model are also considered.
