Aqueous sulfuric acid may have dissolved iron oxides in Martian basalt.
Magnetite dissolves at 25°C in sulfuric acid. As pH decreases, the
rate of dissolution increases. Aqueous Fe may have precipitated as
secondary Fe-bearing minerals on Mars.
