Using the Darwin-Hartree microscopic theory of re-radiation, formulae have been derived in the previous papers of this series for 1. (i) the density of reflections at each level of a horizontally stratified ionosphere, 2. (ii) the integrated contribution to the total reflected field due to a finite layer of the medium. Results were obtained in these papers for an isotropic exponential ionosphere. In the present paper an isotropic sech2 ionosphere is considered and curves are produced showing the reflection processes for waves of frequency less than and greater than the penetration frequency. These results are compared and contrasted with the corresponding results for the exponential model. In the discussion of the results attention is paid to the location of the zeros of the refractive index and the Booker variable q on the complex height plane.
