Calculated binding energies and geometries for negative ion induced clusters of hydrogen dipoles, which may be present in gaseous nebulae, are presented. Binding energies for Hn(-), where n is an odd integer between 3 and 13, range from 8.91 kcal/mol for H3(-) to 3.97 kcal/mol for H13(-), which correspond to calculations of optimal total energy with respect to geometrical parameters, and which are the same order of magnitude as binding energies found for the experimentally produced Hn(plus) (n is odd) clusters. The H3(-) and H5(-) ions are linear, the H7(-) ion is trigonal planar, H9(-) is tetrahedral, H11(-) is trigonal bipyramidal and H13(-) is octahedral, with negative ion nucleating centers and the hydrogen dipoles in line with bonds to the center. It is concluded that the negative clusters may form under favorable conditions.
