Adiabatic interaction between high and low frequency waves is considered for the case of electron plasma oscillations and ion acoustic waves, and the application of results to the solar wind yields a modified dispersion relation for ion acoustic waves which takes a Gaussian distribution for plasmons. For a broad spectrum limiting case, the plasma turbulence has a destabilizing effect through the introduction of a growth rate denoted by gamma turbulence. For a narrow spectrum, the plasma turbulence has a stabilizing effect.
