This paper addresses the polar cap characteristics using data from the instruments aboard the IC Bulgaria 1300 satellite. The optical emissions, the particle fluxes and their energies, the electric and the magnetic fields and the plasma parameters have been simultaneously measured. Orbits crossing the polar cap have been used. A criterion has been specified for defining of the polar cap boundary using optical data and the average energy of the precipitating electron flux. The boundaries, defined according to the two different methods, coincide. The data confirm the dynamics of the polar cap boundary depending on the geomagnetic activity. Structures have been investigated in the ion and the electron fluxes over the polar cap. A typical case of structure observation in the polar cap is presented in detail.
