Scientific paper

The authors used an analytical method to investigate the energy-weighted
lateral spread of hadronic cascades initiated by one single nucleon in
the atmosphere. They obtained good results for cosmic-ray superfamilies.
The same method is applied successfully to the exotic events Centauro VI
and VII.
