The theoretical principles underlying the use of the differential-phase method to determine the parameters of scattering inhomogeneities are presented. An algorithm is proposed for obtaining the angular scattering indicatrix on the basis of phase-difference measurements on an antenna triangle. Experiments have shown that the differential-phase method can be used to determine the anisotropy and orientation of ionospheric inhomogeneities of different scale. The data confirm a field-diffusion mechanism for the formation of the inhomogeneities.
