In the experiments described, SO2 absorption spectra were studied in five of the strongest vibrational-rotational bands. The parameters of the spectral transmission function and the integrated band intensities are determined. The influence of SO2 on the radiative characteristics of the planet Venus is assessed, and some aspects of the remote sensing of SO2 in the Venusian atmosphere above the clouds are discussed.
