The AYaKS spectrometer on Prognoz 6 observed nine iron-rich events with an enrichment of three to 24 associated with solar flares. A comparison of solar cosmic ray data for three intense flares indicates that the iron enrichment coefficient is constant in a wide range of kinetic energies of accelerated nuclei. This confirms the conclusion that the enriched composition of solar cosmic rays is formed at a preliminary stage of acceleration. Of the nine iron-rich events discovered six form two sequences of genetically connected events, with three events in each. It is suggested that the generation of solar cosmic rays with heavy-element enrichment from one active region or genetically associated active regions (a generation that is not disrupted even by intense flares) shows that the heating processes which are involved are related to large-scale magnetic fields on the sun.
