The Maria-2 instrument on the Mir station was used to measure the pitch-angle distribution of electron and positron fluxes in the region of the Brazilian magnetic anomaly. It is shown that electrons predominate significantly over positrons in the electron-positron belt and that the observed lepton belt is formed as the result of an acceleration mechanism, at least in the 20-200 MeV energy range.
