The techniques used and data gathered with interferometry and heterodyne spectrometers at the Pic du Midi Observatory during several years of measurements of minor atmospheric constituents are reported. The data were gathered in 1980-82. Absorption and emission were assayed at sunrise, sunset, smaller zenith angles and in full moon conditions. The survey concentrated on nitric acid and chlorofluorocarbon (freon) 11 lines at 10 microns. No diurnal cycle was noted for nitric acid. A global increase in the atmospheric freon 11 content was confirmed and is predicted to be a contributing factor in tropospheric warning.
