Integrated geophysical and rock property studies of the Sudbury Structure have revealed it is highly deformed with substantial NS shortening in the Sudbury Igneous Complex. Understanding the nature and extent of deformation is essential to determining the original shape of the structure and the results of these studies are sufficient to discount many of the objections to an impact origin.
