The origin of the intrinsic absorption lines in the UV spectra of Seyfert 1 galaxies and their connection to the emission-line and X-ray absorption regions will be investigated. STIS observations in the medium resolution echelle modes will be obtained over the entire UV spectral range for Seyfert 1 galaxies that are known to exhibit intrinsic absorption lines. Accurate column densities, covering factors, and velocity profiles will be used to understand the origin of these enigmatic absorption features.
