We discuss the application of Virtual Observatory (VO) tools for the determination of interstellar reddening by the use of photometric data and spectral type information of stars near a selected line of sight. We illustrate this technique with an example of the construction of reddening-distance relations in a selected direction and the subsequent determination of the distance to a planetary nebula. Information and tools available from the VO facility allow us to develop a procedure to perform the data analysis in an easy and direct way, showing how VO could help in the near future with the old and well known problem of the precise determination of distances to PNe.
