Scientific paper

The paper describes a procedure for interpreting Venera-8 optical data on the atmosphere and albedo of Venus. The technique uses asymptotic formulas for solving equations of radiative transfer in two-dimensional stratified media and is used to formulate several simple models of the Venus atmosphere, consisting of two or three homogeneous layers. The models are used to interpret variations of the optical parameters of the atmosphere and albedo, with consideration of the scatter of experimental data.
