The soft X-ray iron line spectra of flares are analyzed using data collected by the Bragg Spectrometer on the Hinotori satellite. Strong K-alpha emission is found at the impulsive phase of the hard X-ray burst, and the net K-alpha emission due to the electron impact is evaluated by eliminating the fluorescence contribution. The differences in the electron temperatures and the emission measures derived respectively from Fe XXVI and Fe XXV spectra are examined. A preliminary two-temperature model is developed which can explain the two spectra. A comparison is presented of the temporal relations between the soft X-ray and hard X-ray intensities. It is shown that two extreme classes of flares exist, one characterized by the efficient formation of a hot thermal plasma above 30 million degrees, and the other characterized by the spiky hard X-ray component.
