Interplanetary Shock Waves

A hybrid shock formed by linking up different types of shocks may exist in the interplanetary space. As a necessary component of a hybrid shock, the intermediate shock occurs in the vicinity of the heliospheric electric current sheet with its front concave towards the sun. This conclusion is confirmed by observations to a certain extent, and has important relations with the 3-dimensional properties of interplanetary shocks.
