Scientific paper

The paper presents the parameters (periods, magnitudes and azimuths, horizontal propagation velocities, and horizontal dimensions) of large-scale (greater than 1000 km) internal gravity waves (IGWs) manifested in wavelike variations of the degree of development of the F1 layer over widely spaced midlatitude stations in April 1976. It is found that variations of the degree of development of the midlatitude F1-layer have a quasi-periodic structure and are determined by the passage of medium- and large-scale IGWs.
