Scientific paper

The state of knowledge of the Gum Nebula is reviewed, and the results of new observations are reported. Findings made by previous observations are summarized. A new study is reported which found the expansion velocity of the nebula and failed to detect forbidden O III emission in any of the 14 positions observed. None of the H-alpha profiles showed splitting.
