The kinematics in the outer parts of early type galaxies can efficiently be determined using planetary nebulae (PNe) as a tracer population. By modeling the kinematics we can estimate the amount and distribution of dark matter in these galaxies. We have observed eight galaxies using the Rutgers Fabry-Perot Interferometer (RFP) at the CTIO 4m telescope to measure PNe velocities. Initial analysis of these data shows that the RFP is not well-suited to discover PNe candidates. Intermediate band (~40 Å) photometry can more efficiently detect PNe and ensure optimal use of the RFP data. We propose to obtain deep intermediate band photometry for these galaxies to select a large (100- 200) sample of PNe candidates. We will then determine the velocities of these PNe using the (existing) RFP observations. In addition, we will use this photometry to firmly establish the flux scale for the PNe.
