The Optical Spectrograph and InfraRed Imager System (OSIRIS) instrument on the polar orbiting Odin satellite has observed Polar Mesospheric Clouds (PMCs) in both hemispheres since November, 2001. Clouds are detected as the limb radiance enhancement at altitudes between 80 and 88 km at several chosen wavelengths in the UV region. The latitudinal coverage of Odin typically ranges from 82.2 N to 82.2 S. The OSIRIS PMC database has been created from all available Odin mesospheric observations between November 2001 and September 2005 and contains such parameters as cloud location, time of detection, peak altitude, and peak brightness at several wavelengths. In this work, we analyze the interseasonal and interhemispheric differences in PMC properties, including the occurrence frequency and latitudinal distribution, observed during the five southern hemisphere summers and four northern hemisphere summers.
