This paper is devoted to the study of the Collision-Induced (CI) Raman lineshapes of mercury in the density range in which only pair collisions are effective. Particularly we will be concerned with the relation between CI Raman scattering and both the pair polarizability and interatomic potential. It will be shown that the available experimental results can be reproduced if refined models for both the pair polarizability and potential are used. Particularly overlap effects (damping) on the Dipole-Induced-Dipole (DID) contributions are to be taken into account.
