We will present experimental study of the interaction of high Mach number plasma jets with different plasma targets. The plasma jets were generated using precursor plasma flow in conical wire array Z-pinches [1]. In this system the coronal plasma is continuously formed from the stationary wires and accelerated by the JxB force towards the array axis. Stagnation of this converging plasma flow on the axis of symmetry forms a standing conical shock, which effectively collimates the flow in the axial direction. The jets generated in these experiments have dimensionless parameters [2] similar to those for astrophysical jets in Young Stellar Objects. For the interaction experiments the plasma targets were formed by the radiative ablation of plastic foils or by photoionisation of gas jets. The deflection of the plasma jets by the "plasma wind" from the ablating foil was observed and the relevance of these observations to the astrophysical systems will be discussed. Experimental configurations, which allow the formation of jets with angular momentum and / or axial magnetic field, will be also discussed. The photoionisation of the gas jets by the XUV and the soft X-ray radiation of the wire array make possible experiments with magnetised plasma clouds.
