The inter-calibration of the different ATLAS calorimeters has been studied using beam tests at the CERN SPS accelerator and also with Monte-Carlo techniques. Particularly important in these studies has been the development of techniques allowing the offline compensation of the hadronic response of the ATLAS calorimeter system. Results on calorimeter inter-calibration, offline hadronic compensation, and comparisons of data with Geant 4 simulation, are reported from beam tests in the ATLAS barrel, end-cap and forward calorimeter regions performed from 2002-2004. Results on ongoing studies extrapolating these techniques to the full ATLAS calorimeter are also discussed.
