Scientific paper

The paper investigates the effect of the solar-wind proton halo on the generation of MHD waves propagating at an angle to the magnetic field. Increments and development conditions for the MHD-wave instabilities are determined. The instabilities are most likely to arise in the heliospheric region with R = 5-20 solar radii. The occurrence of the instability near earth orbit is found to be possible.
