Abstract

The CFHTLS and UKIDSS surveys will provide the next leap in the identification of ultracool dwarfs in the solar neighborhood. These surveys have already identified more than a dozen of spectrocopically confirmed T dwarfs, including the coolest dwarf known to date. We propose to continue using ISPI on the 4m Blanco telescope to measure the parallaxes of these objects. Parallaxes are a fundamental piece of data that will allow us to derive luminosities and temperatures. We will also obtain proper motions and improved photometry for the objects.
