The Excede:Spectral auroral simulation experiment is briefly described, and results are presented of an analysis of 2- to 7-micron data from the two circular variable filter (CVF) spectrometers of the experiment, together with their interpretation. Some UV, visible, and IR interferometer data are also examined in order to assist in the interpretation of the CVF data. From the CVF data, nitrogen Wu-Benesch (W3 Delta - B 3Pi) emission was positively identified; the Wu-Benesch emission was observed at all altitudes, even under conditions where the water emission intensity was strong.
