The investigation conducted shows the existence of a close relationship between the measured spatial and temporal pattern of precipitating charged particles and the observed structuring of several thermospheric features. The solar wind constitutes the ultimate source of these particles. It is suggested that charged particles are the energy source of several thermospheric phenomena because of the similarity of the extent of their occurrence to the known locations of particle precipitation.
