Formulas are presented which show that distortions of reflected
wide-band signals in the ionosphere can be due to scattering by
irregularities. The derived formulas define the dependence of the shape
of the reflected signal on the parameters of reflecting irregularities:
vertical dimensions, electron density, and altitude.
