We describe the general features and a few specific models of inflationary cosmology that lead to Ω≠1 today, solve all standard problems of classical cosmology, and generate density perturbations that may be responsible for the formation of structures in the universe. Further development along these lines may require a more elaborate analysis of the initial conditions, both for the classical evolution and for the density perturbations.
