Recent results have shown that acoustic detection of rocket launched grenades at higher altitudes is possible, thus extending the grenade method of temperature and wind measurement. Pressure variations at ground level have been monitored over the frequency range of 1-100 c/s using hot wire microphones and a multiplex system for acoustic recording. 355 g grenades were detected at 107 km.
