The hardware architecture and software structure of the VLBI Mark 5 disk recording system are studied. The implementation of Mark 5 software is analyzed in a perspective of software designing. The operation flowchart of the Mark 5 system at Urumqi Astronomical Observatory is introduced. The structure of the e-VLBI software at Haystack Observatory is discussed.
