Measurements of the cosmic microwave background temperature anisotropy over the next decade will provide a snapshot of the infant universe which can be used to distinguish models of the origin and evolution of the Universe. The resulting image can also provide new measures of cosmological parameters. The talk will be an introductory review of the predictions of the leading theories, the status of present experiments, and projected milestones for the coming decade.
